Fat Children - Jarvis Cocker

It’s always nice to hear something that Jarvis Cocker has been working on. His last album is a bit hit and miss but definately worth a listen. One of my favourite tracks is Fat Children. When I wa back in England, one of my sisters friends got beat up by someone trying to steal their mobile phone! Christ what are they worth about a tenner on the black market? Anyway here’s the lyrics to Fat Children by Jarvis Cocker.

Last night I had a little altercation
they wobbled menacingly beneath the yellow street-light: it became a situation.
They wanted my brand-new phone with all the pictures of the kids & the wife.
A struggle ensued & then fat children took my life.
Fat children took my life. Oh…..

Well, some passers-by took me to the station.
The Police Force was elsewhere - putting bullets in some guy’s head for no particular reason.
So I died in the back of the cab but I’ll be back to haunt them.
This thing does not end here: my spirit walks the streets of Tottenham,
singing: fat children took my life. Oh…….

Oh, the parents are the problem; giving birth to maggots without the sense to become flies.
So pander to your pampered little princess - of such enormous size. Oh.

Class Lyrics by Mr Cocker again, I loved all his pulp stuff.

Razorlight - who needs love

A couple of good albums have recently come out. Razorlight (self titled) is a little raw, and I think thats a good thing. Here are the lyrics to the second song on the album; who needs love by Razorlight.
Oooh oooh darling, who needs love?
Who needs a heaven up above?
Who needs the clouds, in the sky, not I.

Oooh oooh darling who needs the rain?
Who needs somebody that can feel your pain?
Who needs the disappointment of a telephone call, not I
No I don’t need that at all, not I.

I’m, tired of love, yeah, sick of love, I’ve taken more than enough

Oooh oooh  darling who needs the night?
The sacred hours, the fading life
Who needs the morning, and the joy it brings, not I
I’ve got my mind on other things, not I.

Oooh oooh darling who needs joy?
Who needs a perfect girl or boy?
And who needs to draw, that person near, not I
Because they always disappear, not I.

And you know,

I’m, tired of love
(Yeah)
(Yeah) I’m sick of love
(Yeah)
You give me more than enough.

I’m gone!

Oooh oooh darling, who needs love?
Who needs a heaven up above?
Who needs all the arguments? Who needs to be right, not I
But I just can’t give up without a fight, not I,
No I just can’t give up without a fight, not I,
No I just can’t give up without a fight, not I,
No no no not I,
Oh no no not I,
No no no no no no not I
Check out the Razorlight album, it’s pretty good :)

Do you remember the first time?

I’ve just been sat here listening to the pulp babies ep, one of the first pulp cds that I bought, many a long year ago :) It reminded me how shit hot Jarvis Cocker is! I have a softspot for Razzamatazz of course with it being a family nickname, but one of my favourite pulp songs is Do you remember the first time?

I wonder how many people living in loveless marriages and relationships that this song holds true for? Not actually my favourite pulp song I’ll let you know that another time (Hint, I want to give you children :). Anyway here are the lyrics to do you remember the first time by pulp.

You say you’ve got to go home
cos he’s sitting on his own again this evening.
I know you’re gonna let him bore your pants off again.
Oh God, it’s half past eight,
you’ll be late.
But you say you’ve never been sure,
Though it makes good sense for you to live together.
Still you bought a toy that can reach the places he never goes.
and now it’s getting late.
He’s so straight.

Do you remember the first time?
I can’t remember a worse time.
But you know that we’ve changed so much since then,
oh yeah,
we’ve grown.
Now I don’t care what you’re doing,
No I don’t care if you screw him.
Just as long as you save a piece for me,
oh yeah

You say you’ve got to go home.
Well at least there’s someone there that you can talk to.
And you never have to face up to the night on your own.
Jesus, it must be great to be straight.

Do you remember the first time?
I can’t remember a worse time.
But you know that we’ve changed so much since then,
oh yeah,
we’ve grown.
Now I don’t care what you’re doing,
No I don’t care if you screw him.
Just as long as you save a piece for me,
oh yeah
you wanna go home

you wanna go home

you wanna go home

you wanna go home

Do you remember the first time?
I can’t remember a worse time.

oooooooh
you wanna go home
